Topeka’s startup community: This month, Omni Circle Group announced $360,000 in funding from a Kauffman Foundation Grant. The organization supports minority-owned startups in Topeka, Kansas by providing community, resources and funding. Learn more, here.

Newark Social’s Winter Village: Newark’s first outdoor public skating rink opened in Mulberry Commons this year. Newark Social’s Winter Village ran from December 1 to January 30. During that time, we secured over 20 stories, driving 7,000 visitors to the rink in just the first month. Read more from MSN, here.

We’re excited to welcome our newest Account Director, David Margolis!

David has over 17 years of experience within the economic development and tourism-focused public relations and marketing space.

Prior to joining Violet PR, David was Principal at Conway Data, Inc., where he managed PR and marketing efforts for clients such as the Kingdom of Thailand, the States of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Georgia, Rhode Island, and Virginia, and the cities of Tampa, FL and Hampton Roads, VA. He has secured top-tier media coverage for clients in news outlets including CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and Fast Company as well as industry-focused media outlets like Aviation Week, Automotive News and Site Selection. David is most proud of successfully servicing the communication needs of Oklahoma for nine straight years as well as being part of the communication efforts to announce the Amazon HQ2 investment in Northern Virginia.

David also has five years of investment promotion experience as former Associate Director of ADERLY, the Economic Development Agency for the City of Lyon, France. Based in New York City, David attracted U.S. foreign direct investment to France as well as implemented media campaigns and organized trade events to promote French products in the United States.

David has a B.A. in International Relations and French from Tufts University and an MBA in International Marketing from Thunderbird School of International Management (now part of ASU).
