Pittsburgh International Airport

Leading Amidst the Pandemic

Challenge

The Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), a nonprofit authority that serves 9 million passengers annually, goes above and beyond the average airport to be an innovation hub and an industry leader. Its dynamic CEO, Christina Cassotis, has sought to make the airport a safe place for its employees, planes and even the general public during COVID-19. Violet PR worked to secure national media opportunities featuring Cassotis and the airport’s response to the pandemic. Airport news has included deployment of high-tech cleaning technologies, increased cargo flights to deliver medical supplies, a city-wide food bank and more.

Solution

Through a series of crafted media pitches highlighting Cassotis’ leadership and next steps for the aviation industry, Violet PR secured prominent media interviews with numerous top-tier outlets. Violet PR also worked closely with many reporters, securing assets, coordinating on-site shoot logistics and answering follow-up questions. Overall, our team secured media coverage in 19 national outlets, aviation trades and travel trades, including Good Morning America (ABC), The Today Show (NBC), The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Radio, The New York Times, Cheddar and more. Violet PR has generated 4,390,000 billion online impressions and an estimated 3,540,000 million coverage views for PIT during the pandemic.
